The Montana YMCA Youth and Government Program provides a fun and educational Youth Legislature and Model Supreme Court for high school students which allows them to learn about state government and the political process. The program is based on the rules, procedures, and traditions of the real Montana Legislature and Supreme Court.

The 2010
Youth and Government was kicked off with an inspirational speech by Governor Brian Schweitzer. He talked about Montana’s financial future and the potential of alternative fuels in our enriched state that stands unharvested of its natural resources. It was great to hear about the security our state will obtain from coal, bakken shale, camellia and of course wind energy. Schweitzer made it apparent that with the help of these alternative energies, Montana will be ever prosperous in the coming years which, without a doubt, brought hope to our ever troubled generation. There wasn’t possibly a better way to start this year’s program then with such a hopeful outlook on the future of this state. May this be the start to yet another great year of the YMCA Youth in Government program.
